The Seattle Griot Project, designed with the philosophy of the father of Black History Carter G. Woodson's doctrines in mind offers the Black community tools and an archive of information. Dr. Woodson had spoke concerning the necessity of these to fortify the Black family saying: "For me education means to inspire people to live more abundantly, to learn to begin, to learn to begin with life as they find it and make it better."
